My son as an apprentice from groundsman in Dubais golf club to his dream job at Arsenal FC as a groundsman. I hope you don’t mind me reaching out to you but I just wanted to fill you in a little bit about my son.

I’m not sure if you will even remember him but his name is HC  At the time of you mentoring and coaching him, he was at Stanborough School, he was a little bit smaller in stature than most of his friends (that’s not really changed) but his attitude and disdain for school seemed ‘bigger’ than average.

Regardless of his dislike for the academic side of school, we as parents, could always see the other side of his character and the determination he had for the things that ‘HE’ wanted to do and it seemed at the time that you could see it too. I never forget H coming home after your sessions and telling us how much he liked and respected you and that you were unlike the teachers, who he often felt dismissive and you would always listen to him.  H told us that you once said to him something along the lines of “don’t be in a hurry to copy your friends.  They are your friends here but when you all move on , you won’t have the same audience when you are trying to achieve a life or career for yourself further down the road” and that you could sense something about him where you felt sure he would succeed if he put his mind to it. Thank you so very much for being that difference in reminding H what it is he truly could be and despite his difficulties he’s loving life.
